Circle of Sedge

In the interest of science, we present this unretouched photo of the grass-like sedge plant, Eriophorum gracile, growing in a perfect circular pattern. Is this the artifact of some alien landing? Or the result of little field mice performing their circular harvest dance? Dr Hornschnabel, please explain!
