In 1995, the Pendroy Mercantile ceased to stock groceries, concentrating
instead on being a post-office and craft store. To this day, many townsfolk
regret the loss. On occasion, fueled by liquid courage from the saloon across
the street, this recurring form of protest greets next day's early risers.
