To Dye For
A Strange-Tripper came into my office the other day with these, which are very widespread on his ranch this year. He said I had identified them for him some 20-plus years ago. After a little research, we discovered they are "Gallium boreale" (Northern Bedstraw - make you sleepy?) He also said I had told him you could make dye out of them. We laughed and laughed, but later that evening I did find my old flower book and - yes! You can make a purple dye from the roots. Probably better than that tea we had a while back....
