What's So Good About It?
Well, our neighbours to the north seem to get to take Good Friday off. Of course, they're the ones who invented the "August Long Weekend".

As I recall, it's called Karfreitag in Deutschland, with the "Kar-" coming, I think, from the Indo-european root which gives us "carnage" and "carcass"...
