Perhaps you did not know their scientific name, but surely you are familiar with these small plastic creatures which are commonly seen parasitizing plastic bread sacks. At one time it was thought that perhaps they also fed upon the bread. However, recent research reveals that bread in sacks from which the parasite has been removed often dries or becomes moldy, suggesting some sort of symbiotic relationship.

For more details on the fascinating science of these creatures, visit the official HORG website. Perhaps you too will soon be carrying a chart such as this on your next visit to the supermarket!
