We forgot to honor the 50th anniversary of John Glenn's flight yesterday. I was quite a NASA fan back then, getting up at 5:00 am to listen to Walter Cronkite, suffering through interminable "T-minus-19 and holding"'s, racing home from school at lunchtime to see if the launch had gone off. Later that year, at the Seattle World's Fair, I got to touch Alan Shepard's Mercury capsule in the shadow of the brand-new Space Needle. Heady days indeed.
