Rodent: It's What's For Dinner.
What with the beginning of the Year of the Rat in the Chinese calendar, and our mention yesterday of Lent, I thought it appropriate to discuss the Capybara. This South American beast is the world's largest rodent, weighing in at about 100 lbs and standing 2 feet at the shoulder.

Apparently they are pretty tasty. Early Spanish colonists asked the Pope his opinion on whether they could be eaten during Lent. The wise one opined that, since they spend most of their lives in water, they must be fish, so go ahead and eat them. The decree still stands; so if you are Catholic and pining for meat....
