High-Desert Christmas

Global warming, El Niño, whatever: Here is the new face of Christmas along the Front. Red and green replaced by subtle earth-tones of dust and parched dead grass. A touch of white added by dry wisps of frost which sublimate into the dry dead air by day, recondensing in the comfortless cold shadows of night.

Just some thoughts to ponder as you await the arrival of this year's Form 1040 and the credit card bills and the opportunity to send the last of this year's hardscrabble dollars out of state. You can be sure the Federal Government and giant corporations will take better care of them than poor shmucks like us, right? Merry Christmas.
