After a brief flurry of activity back in 1869, when this was the location of the Old Agency trading post, this site north of Choteau has basked quietly in the glows of many autumns. Shadows of these stones have painted many significant astronomical alignments upon the prairie grass, unobserved in the most part, with the exception of the odd magpie, pausing in her rounds to cock her head to one side, then fly on, croaking the news to whoever would hear. Did you ever bother to listen? If you had, you too would be wise by now.
