Bartolomé Esteban Murillo

Strange Trip - Arts Division. Watching "Jeopardy" with my parents after work today, one of the visual clues was a painting by Paul Gauguin. Not having much else in the way of interesting images tonight, and having the South Pacific on my mind, I searched the web, and found many of his paintings, including one at the Neue Pinakothek in München. I immediately recalled my disappointment 25 years ago at finding die neue closed, and having to settle for a tour of die alte instead. Searching for Alte Pinakothek revealed this 1650 painting which so caught my eye on that day, standing out among the (to my untrained eye) rather boring and predictable paintings of its time.
